Thomas A. Ellison, owner and chairman of the board of Savers, Inc., is the
third generation of his family to have a career in the resale industry. In 1954, Mr. Ellison's father, William O. Ellison
opened his first store, then called Thrift Village, in San Francisco, USA.
In its first day of operation, the store rang up gross sales of $448. By 1970, the one store had become a chain, and its
headquarters had moved north to Seattle, USA. Savers, Inc. went international in 1980 when it opened its first Canadian
store on Hastings Street in Vancouver, British Columbia. called Value Village. And in 1997, opened it's first Australian
store in Brunswick; an inner city suburb of Melbourne.

Mr. Ellison's grandfather and great uncle, Ben and Orlo Ellison, were instrumental in building the Salvation Army's US
organization in the 1930's and '40s.
Today, Savers, Inc. operates more than 180 Savers, Value Village and Village des Valeurs stores. Our stores employ more
than 6,500 people in 25 states, 10 Canadian provinces and Australia.
